The demolition of illegal resorts on Vembanad Lake may take more time as the authorities are busy dismantling the Rainbow restaurant at Aluva.
The Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the knocking down of the resorts will be submitted to the Supreme Court, which ordered the demolition. Any action could be initiated only after the apex court and the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest cleared it, said a senior official of the State government.
The Alappuzha district Collector had added some comments to the earlier prepared action plan for razing the structures after the court order. The action plan, along with the comments, was forwarded to an agency for preparing the EIA, said the official.
Meanwhile, the workers engaged by the Public Works Department continued to dismantle parts of Rainbow restaurant.
The district administration swung into action on Tuesday for pulling down the building after the Supreme Court initiated contempt of court action against the Ernakulam District Collector and others.
The debris, including the serviceable materials, may earn some revenue whereas the other refuse would be shifted to the vacant area near the building, an official said.
The officials were of the view that it may take at least three weeks for completing the process.
