April 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:38 am IST - KOCHI:

The Railway Police on Sunday confiscated 700 kg of pan masala during a raid conducted at the Ernakulam Junction railway station. According to officials, the banned product was recovered from sacks that had reached the station as parcel in a train and was found abandoned on the platform during a joint raid by the RFP and the Railway Police. “The persons who brought the consignment are suspected to have fled the spot upon seeing the police,” they said.

A follow-up investigation is on to trace its source and the persons who smuggled it into Kerala.
