Parents of a few students who appeared for the All India Pre-Medical/ Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT) 2015 at a school at Kakkanad protested on Sunday as the students were asked to keep their watches, jewellery and even handkerchiefs outside the venue.

A student who appeared for the examination said nothing except the hall ticket and the photo for identification was allowed inside the school premises.

The AIPMT prospectus mentioned that hi-tech gadgets, including electronic watches with calculators, were not allowed into the examination hall, but the school authorities went a step further, said C. P. Rajendran, a parents.

An instruction listed on the CBSE-AIPMT examination website says,

“Calculators, slide rules, log tables, geometry box, electronic digital watches with facilities of calculators, cellular phones, pagers or any other electronic gadget are not allowed inside the examination hall.”
