Probe launched against ‘quotation’ racket

KOCHI: The city police have launched a probe into the alleged threatening of a businessman by a ‘quotation’ gang leader over phone.

According to official sources, a Thiruvananthapuram native was taken into custody and interrogated in connection with the case.

The accused, who has a business dispute with the complainant, has reportedly confessed to engaging a quotation racket against the businessman.

The incident came to light after the complainant approached the State Police Chief.

According to the case, a person claiming to be the leader of a quotation racket contacted the businessman over phone and sought a ransom of ₹45 lakh in 15 days for not abducting and killing his son.
