Private bus rams shops; 5 injured

As many as 5 persons were injured when a speeding private service bus lost control and rammed into three adjacent shops in Kaduthuruthy on Monday morning.

According to the police, the bus was heading towards Ernakulam from Erattupetta. In an attempt to avert collision with an approaching car, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle as he tried to swerve the bus.

The bus rammed on to the shops which were unoccupied. The shops and a parked bike that came in the course of the bus suffered major damage. The incident occurred around 7.45 a.m., the police said.

Four passengers and the driver of the bus suffered minor injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Muttuchira.

A case has been registered by the police in connection with the mishap.
