The Crime Branch has been granted custody of Lissy Sojan, accused in the Nedumbassery human trafficking case, for 10 days.
The Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate Court granted custody of Lissy to the police so they could interrogate her and gather evidence about the trafficking racket.
Lissy allegedly tricked women into prostitution in Gulf countries. She has also been accused of committing passport fraud.
The police also got custody of Raju Mathew, who was sub-inspector of the Immigration Wing at Nedumbassery, for four days. He is accused of aiding Lissy in getting women without valid documents through the emigration of the airport. Mathew is one of two police officers already under arrest in the case.
She allegedly trafficked over 120 women from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and countries such as Sri Lanka and the Philippines.
