The police on Tuesday clamped down on illegal parking of cargo lorries on both sides of the Container Road here. Stickers were pasted on lorries that violated the rule on Tuesday. The police said that the drive would be stepped up in the coming days in association with the Motor Vehicles Department.

The Cochin Port Trust has floated a tender for setting up another parking yard at Puthuvype side. This will be in addition to the four-acre parking space by BPCL and the one at Bolgatty where 60 carriers can be parked.
