Plea against appointment of Jiji Thomson

January 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - Kochi:

A writ petition was filed on Tuesday in the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to the State government not to appoint Jiji Thomson, Additional Chief Secretary, who is facing corruption charges in the palmolein import scam, as the Chief Secretary.

According to the petitioner, his appointment was void as it had been made without obtaining the mandated clearance from the Vigilance Department, the Department of Personnel & Training, the Central government, the Central Vigilance Commission and the Central Bureau of Investigation. The petition was filed by N. Sudhakaran, CPI (M) worker from Kochi.
