The city police on Wednesday arrested a sports physiotherapist on charges of allegedly attempting to sexually abuse a woman patient.

The accused, who works with a clinic at Panampilly Nagar, was arrested on a complaint by a Kerala-born US citizen. The incident took place on Tuesday when the woman was undergoing treatment at the clinic.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly resorted to inappropriate acts. Though the woman warned him once, a complaint was lodged after he repeated the act.

The accused has been booked under Section 354 of the IPC for outraging the modesty of a woman and remanded in judicial custody.

Meanwhile, preliminary investigations revealed the physiotherapist did not resort to the act intentionally.
