People want Modi as PM, says Swamy

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramaniam Swamy said here on Saturday that the country had accepted, whether one likes it or not, that Narendra Modi would be India’s next Prime Minister. He cited an English magazine as expressing the opinion that the people of India had decided to make Mr. Modi the next Prime Minister but in the magazine’s opinion, Mr. Modi should not be the Prime Minister.

“Why this reluctance?” Dr. Swamy asked and answered the question by claiming that the arrival of Mr. Modi as Prime Minister would make India intellectually free of the West. Dependence on foreign ideologies, including India’s dependence on the Soviet model of development, had proved disastrous for the country, he said at a function organised in Tripunithura.
