July 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:16 am IST - KOCHI:

The full bench of the State Women’s Commission will consider any complaints by women journalists in relation to the recent stand-off between journalists and lawyers.

A press statement issued here on Tuesday quoted Lissy Jose, Member of the Commission, as making the announcement at a mega adalat conducted by the Commission at the TDM Hall in the city.

The statement appealed to journalists and lawyers to work together and expressed regret that journalists were not able to work freely. The problems faced by women journalists would be heard by the Commission, it said.

She said that incidents of abuse of women were being reported increasingly and that a change in attitude was needed to improve the situation.

49 cases settled

A total of 49 cases out of the 120 complaints that the Commission had received were settled on Tuesday.
