One killed in road mishap near Thiruvalla

One person was killed and two others seriously injured when a speeding tempo van collided with an auto-rickshaw at Vaikkathillom near Thiruvalla on the Thiruvalla-Thakazhi Road on Friday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Joseph (50) of Srambickal house in Edathua who was travelling in the auto-rickshaw. His body has been kept in the mortuary at Pushpagiri Medical College, police said.

The two injured are the lorry driver, Manikkuttan and the auto driver, Reghu. Both of them have been admitted to PMC, later.

According to an eyewitness, the speeding tempo van had rammed into a wayside tree, uprooting it, after hitting the auto-rickshaw.

Pulikeezhu police registered a case.
