A 38-year-old employee of a private institution at Edappally was arrested by Kalamassery police on Wednesday on charges of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh.
The girl was the daughter of a person employed in the same institution where the accused Sanal Kumar, 38, of Mailappara, Kozhencheri, Pathanamthitta, was working as a supervisor.
The accused went to Uttar Pradesh along with the girl’s father when the latter went to attend a wedding there. They brought the girl along with them on their return. Sanal Kumar then took the girl, under the pretext of showing her around, to Pazhani and sexually abused her, said the police.
The police team led by Bijo Alexander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Thrikkakara, Baiju Poulose, Tripunithura Circle Inspector and M.B. Latheef, sub-inspector, Kalamassery arrested the accused from the city on Wednesday.
He will be produced before the court on Thursday.
