: The Kadavanthra police have arrested a Kolencherry native on charges of swindling money from several people by introducing herself as relative of the former chief minister Oommen Chandy.

The arrested has been identified as Jincy Chakkappan, a resident of Kinginimattom near Kolencherry. Jincy had run a chit firm named Dhanushkodi Kuries and had been on the run after failing to return the amount collected from investors. The accused was arrested on a complaint filed by Kadavanthra native Antony, which stated that the chit firm failed to return Rs.50,000 which he had invested towards the chit scheme.

According to police, there are cases against Jincy’s firm for similar fraud at Adimali, Rajakkad and Mulanthuruthi. The accused used to gain the trust of people by projecting her husband Lenin Mathew as a close relative of Mr. Chandy.
