One held for illegal money lending

The Perumbavoor police arrested a man on the charge of illegal money lending. The arrested is Abdul Aseem of Vallam. He had allegedly snatched the passport of a shop owner at Perumbavoor market last month for the latter’s failure to pay interest.

Investigations revealed that Aseem had lent money to the shop owner at a very high rate of interest. The police also seized several documents, including signed blank cheques, promissory notes, and stamp papers, from him. The accused was booked under the Kerala Money lenders Act. He was produced before a magistrate.
