One person was killed when a private tourist bus fell off the National Highway near Varapuzha bridge here on Wednesday morning.

The bus veered to the left, went off the road, and fell into open land about 20 feet below the level of the road around 5.45 a.m.

Santhosh, also known as Thambi, 44, of Methala, Kodungalloor, was killed in the accident.

The tourist bus was on its way from Kodungalloor to Kaloor to pick a group who had booked the bus for a trip to Karnataka when the accident occurred. Bus driver Digesh, cleaner Biju, and their friend Santhosh were the only people in the vehicle.
