The third edition of Offshore Sailing Race organised by the Offshore Sailing Club of India was flagged off by Vice-Admiral K.N. Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, here on Wednesday.

A total of five teams - three from the commands of the Navy, one from the Tri-services Command in the Andaman and Nicobar islands and an Indian Army team - are participating in the race.

The 24- foot yachts, each with a crew of five, will touch Androth Island in Lakshadweep and sail back to Kochi, covering in the process a total distance of about 400 nautical miles. Safety and other administrative support to the teams will be provided by Southern Naval Command ships and aircraft. Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) is the main sponsor of the event.
