‘Odeum’, an organisation that seeks to foster various forms of art — from painting and cinema to theatre, dance, music and folk arts — will be jointly inaugurated by filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, critic M.K. Sanoo, veteran artist M.V. Devan, Dr. C.K. Ramachandran, writers Sethu and K.R. Meera and scenarist John Paul at a function at TDM Hall on Friday.

As they light the traditional lamp to formally announce the setting up of the collective, senior artist C.N. Karunakaran will join them by giving expression to it on the canvas. Senior artist T. Kaladharan will hand over the catalogue of the first painting exhibition organised by Odeum to essayist K.N. Shaji. Make-up artist Pattanam Rasheed will distribute membership and T.M. Abraham and S. Ramesan will announce the proposed theatre project of ‘Odeum’, which in ancient Greek meant a music and poetry performing centre.

The inaugural function will have an auspicious close with artists of Kavalam Narayana Panikker’s Sopanam presenting Vamozhi Vazhakkam .
