The Kuruppampady Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Friday allowed the plea of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the rape and murder of a Dalit woman in Perumbavoor for conducting a DNA test on Ameerul Islam, the accused in the case.

The court passed the order on an application filed by the SIT seeking to allow it to get the DNA test conducted on the accused.

The police moved the court in view of the allegations regarding the authenticity of a similar test conducted on the accused.

Meanwhile, three more witnesses had identified the accused in an identification parade conducted in the presence of the magistrate at the district jail at Kakkanad.
