Metro agencies responsible for maintenance of stretch during rail project work

May 13, 2017 08:07 am | Updated 08:07 am IST - KOCHI

The highway stretch from Aluva to Edappally junction has not been handed over to the Public Works Department (PWD) or the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL), and is still under the control of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the Authority has clarified in a statement filed in the Kerala High Court.

The NHAI said that as part of renationalisation of national highways, NH 47 had been renamed as NH 544 through a notification in 2010.

The NHAI had also granted permission to the DMRC and KMRL for locating the columns of metro viaduct on the median of NH 47 from Aluva to Edappally for the metro project.
