The 27th meeting of the board of directors of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) was held here on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by newly appointed KMRL chairman Durga Shanker Mishra, who also holds the office of the Urban Development Secretary.
It was announced at the meeting that Rajiv Gauba would cease to be KMRL chairman.
Three studies on urban transport, conducted by KMRL under the Central Finance Scheme of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, were placed before the board. They include Comprehensive Mobility Plan and Parking - Master Plan for Greater Kochi; Integrated Public Transport (IPT) - Solutions for Greater Kochi Region, and Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) - Master Plan for Kochi City.
The studies were submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the State government for further action.
The board also approved the resignation of one of its directors. It constituted a committee to select a new director.
Meanwhile, Ajit Pandit replaced Anirudh Jain as a director of the KMRL board.
A report on the commencement of commercial operations of Reach – I from Aluva to Palarivattom and a progress report on the status of the newly inaugurated reach were also submitted to the board.
