The Navy Day celebrations of the Southern Naval Command began with a purposeful mission in its neighbourhood. A multi-specialty medical camp for the residents of Vathuruthy Village located on Willingdon Island was inaugurated by Rear Admiral G. Ashok Kumar, the command’s Chief of Staff.

N. Venugopal, Chairman of the Greater Cochin Development Corporation and councillor of the area, and Commodore M.R. Ajay Kumar, Naval Officer in-Charge Kerala, were present on the occasion.

Rear Admiral Kumar spoke of the special interest the Navy has in its neighbouring Vathuruthy and promised more such initiatives in the future. Specialist doctors from INHS (Indian Naval Hospital Ship) Sanjivani and INS Venduruthy were available for consultation and treatment at the camp.
