Naval Ship Repair Yard offers apprenticeship

The Naval Ship Repair Yard here has sought applications from candidates who have passed ITI with 65 per cent marks in electrician, electronic, mechanic, TV and video mechanic, machinist, refrigerator and AC mechanic, fitter, welder, painter (general), electroplater and turner trades for apprenticeship for a period of one year and from those with similar qualification in diesel mechanic (I.C. engine fitter), shipwright (carpenter), sheet metal worker, millwright mechanic (mechanic machine tool maintenance) and plumber trades for apprenticeship for a period of two years.

The candidates should have secured over 50 per cent marks in their matriculation or equivalent examination. They should have completed 14 years of age as October 1, 2010.

The upper age limit of 21 years is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per the rules. Shortlisted candidates would be required to appear for a written examination and interview for which call letters will be issued. Applications on white paper with bio-data and the trade in which apprenticeship is sought, together with attested copies of certificates should reach ‘The Commodore Superintendent, Naval Ship Repair Yard, Naval Base, Kochi- 682 004' on or before August 13.
