‘Nakshatravanam’ planned

June 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - KOCHI:

The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has come out with a Nakshatravanam project, which will come up on the western side of the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium at Kaloor.

Cardinal George Alencherry will plant the first of the 27 saplings dedicated to Malayalam birth stars on World Environment Day on Friday. Saplings of remaining trees would be planted one after another, GCDA chairman N. Venugopal said. People would be allowed to take care of trees dedicated to their birth stars. The Kerala Cricket Association and the St. Teresa’s College are cooperating with the project. The GCDA has sourced saplings of all 27 trees.
