Muvattupuzha murder: weapons recovered

Accused remanded in judicial custody

The Muvattupuzha police on Tuesday recovered an iron rod and a wood log used by the accused to bludgeon 45-year-old Binoy to death at Pandapilly the other day.

As part of investigation, the police took the accused, identified as Jayan, Mathew Issac and Tomy, to the crime scene on Tuesday for collecting evidence. The accused were later produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

According to the police, the weapons were recovered from the vehicle inside which Binoy had been brutally assaulted. The police had found him lying in a pool of blood along the road on Monday evening.

In his statement to the police before his death, the victim had mentioned the name of the key accused, said officials.

As per the case, the victim was beaten up following an altercation over the alleged illicit affair of his wife with one of the accused. Following the attack, Binoy fractured his rib and neck while his liver got lacerated with the fractured rib penetrating into it.

A post mortem examination of the victim’s body was carried out at the government hospital at Muvattupuzha on Tuesday.
