The special court considering the atrocities against women and children in Kochi has found three persons, including a woman, guilty in the murder of four-year-old Aksa in 2013. The quantum of punishment to the accused is slated to be pronounced on Friday.
Considering the case, the court found Rani, the mother of the girl, and her two paramours, Rejith and Basil, guilty of murdering Aksa, a kindergarten student in Chottanikkara.
Aksa was bashed to death by Rejith in October 2013 and the incident came to light after Rani approached the Chottanikkara police to report that her child was missing.
The police, however, grew suspicious of her statements, and during interrogation she admitted that the girl had been killed and her body was buried at a worksite at Arakkunnam near Piravom. The police recovered the body which was found buried about six feet under the earth covered with a layer of rock and laterite soil.
Rani was a divorcee and was living with the child and Basil at Ambadimala.
The trial in the case was started in October last year.
