The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) will open more retail shops in its international and domestic passenger terminals. This is expected to improve CIAL's retail business and up its income from these activities.

According to the airport authorities, the company plans to set up a world-class shopping area with reputed brands operating from these retail outlets. It now intends to lease out two retail spaces measuring 9 sq.m. CIAL also proposes to launch two retail shops in the canopy, three in the international general concourse and one in its security hold area.

In the international terminal, it envisages the retailer to engage in the retail categories ranging from fashion jewelry to Ayurvedic products with a license period of seven years. It stipulates the operators to share a percentage of the total monthly gross sales to the promoter and also suggests a mobilization period of two months.
