Monsoon fever under control, say health officials

The District Medical Officer N. M. Aysha Bai said that the monsoon-related contagious diseases situation was under control.

In a press note, she said that a reported case of A (H1N1) in a minor, who is now under treatment at the District Hospital here, was contracted from Coimbatore. The minor's family is now in isolation and under prophylactic treatment.

According to Ms. Bai, government hospitals have been provided with facilities to screen patients with suspected A (H1N1) fever and also for taking throat swabs. The hospitals have enough medicine stock, she said.

Dr. Aysha Bai said that media reports on an A (H1N1) death in the district was wrong. She said that health and district authorities regularly appraise the situation and that fever clinics were functioning in all hospitals.
