Migrant worker held, heroin seized

The Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad arrested a migrant with 15 gram heroin from Perumbavoor on Friday as part of the Excise Commissioner’s special drive, ‘Moonshine’. The arrested has been identified as Mumtaj, 35, of Murshidabad district in West Bengal. He was working at a construction site at Perumbavoor, where there is high concentration of migrant workers. The accused has confessed that the heroin was meant for distribution among migrant workers instead of wages. — Staff Reporter
