: Over 23,000 undergraduate seats are available for Class 12 graduates under the online Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) of the Mahatma Gandhi University in the new academic year 2015-16.
As per the official estimates, the combined intake for undergraduate courses that include seats under the CAP, management and community quotas is about 46,729. The most popular B.Com. course has 17,375 seats while the total number of seats for undergraduate courses in the science stream is about 12,950.
The online registration under the CAP for various courses will begin on May 28. As per the university guidelines, 100 per cent seats in government colleges will be filled online. Seventy per cent of seats in aided colleges and 50 per cent in unaided colleges will also be available under the single window system. The community merit quota and management quota seats will be filled by managements concerned.
The admissions under cultural or sports quota for outstanding students will be decided by the colleges. As per official records, nearly 129 affiliated colleges under the university offer 97 undergraduate programmes. Under CAP, even student applying for multiple courses and colleges need to submit just one application. The admission process can be tracked online. Marks at the Plus-Two level will decide the weightage for the admissions to degree programmes.
There will be marginal increase in the number of seats for various undergraduate programmes in the new academic year. The varsity had invited applications from managements interested in increasing the number of seats for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes marginally on May 5.
