Sahakarana Janadhipathya Vedi, an organisation of cooperative sector workers, will organise a regional meeting here on April 17. The meeting will be inaugurated by KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala.

It will discuss the Union government's initiatives in the cooperative sector.

It will also analyse the State government's measures which are harmful to the sector, according to the organisation's chairman, K. Krishna Pillai.

The State was reluctant to implement the Vaidyanathan Committee report, thus forfeiting a package worth Rs.1,600 crore.

The government was also unwilling to extend aid to the dairy farmers' cooperative bodies which were struggling to survive.

On the other hand, the State was ready to fund entities such as Rubco which had defaulted on a loan worth over Rs.175 crore, according to the organisation.
