Medical camp for migrants held

Health authorities conducted medical camps at various places in the district on Sunday.

The number of malaria cases had been found high among migrant workers, especially among those who had travelled to their homes recently. According to the District Medical Officer, N.K. Kuttappan, 8,802 migrant workers were screened during the camp.

There were 31 medical teams across the district that visited 369 sites. Medical officers at Primary Health Centres led 56 medical camps. On Sunday, three cases of malaria were reported.

District Collector M.G. Rajamanickam had recently ordered inspection of labour camps, including migrant labour camps, to keep a check on communicable diseases.
