Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday alleged that the media had double standards while reporting on communal issues.
He was addressing a seminar on ‘Religious fundamentalism and media trial,' organised by the All-India Lawyers' Union at Kodungallur.
Mr. Vijayan claimed that the CPI(M) was the only party that approached communal issues without an eye on votes.
"Nevertheless, whenever the CPI(M) associates with any outfit, the media see it through a communal prism.
A section of the media has been continually attacking the CPI(M). This section keeps mum about certain other parties joining hands with the National Development Front,” he said.
P. Jayarajan, K.T. Jaleel, MLAs, the former Minister and IUML State secretary M. K. Muneer and journalist N. Madhavan Kutty spoke.
