The Ernakulam Central police have launched a probe into the alleged verbal abuse of Mayor Soumini Jain by a young filmmaker in Malayalam.

According to the police, a case will be registered against Jude Anthony Joseph for criminal intimidation and insulting the modesty of a woman and he will be summoned to the station on Tuesday for an interrogation. The incident took place in the morning when Mr. Joseph reached the Mayor’s office, seeking her permission for film shooting inside Subhash Park.

The Mayor, however, objected to the proposal, citing a bylaw passed by the Corporation Council, which prevented the local body from allotting the park for film shooting and similar purposes. The conversation gradually escalated into an altercation and the filmmaker left the Mayor’s office allegedly after warning her of dire consequences.
