Maritime Day celebrated

A session addressed by experts on the theme ‘Seafaring: a career of opportunities' was the highlight of the Maritime Day celebrations organised at the Merchant Navy Club here on Wednesday.

The programme began with hoisting of the flag by M. P. John, principal officer, Mercantile Marine Department, Kochi. K. A. Simon, director, KM School of Marine Engineering, CUSAT, welcomed the gathering.

Captain M. M. Saggi, Nautical Advisor to the government of India was the chief guest at the inaugural function. K. Subramaniam, director (operations) of Cochin Shipyard Limited summed up the discussions and Santhosh Kumar, president of Cochin Steamer Agents' Association, proposed a vote of thanks.
