The Kerala Private Medical College Managements' Association will invite applications from Thursday for admission to the management quota coming to 35 per cent of the seats in each of its 10 affiliated colleges, or 350 seats in total. Candidates whose names figure on the rank list prepared by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations may apply.
Accepting the Supreme Court's directive on Monday that the quota be so filled, the association, on Tuesday, urged the State government to stop allotment to the government quota, comprising 50 per cent of the seats, till September 13, when the court is likely to take up the case for further hearing.
Sajan Prasad, secretary of the association, said an advertisement giving the admission details would appear in the print and the electronic media on Wednesday. Students could download the application forms from the website of the association from Thursday.

Applications should reach the office of the consortium of self-financing medical colleges in Thiruvananthapuram on or before September 7. These would be processed on September 8. The allotment list would be published on September 9. Students could pay the fee (tuition fee: Rs.5.5 lakh and deposit: Rs.5 lakh) through demand drafts till September 11.
Mr. Prasad said the list would be submitted before the court before September 13. The association would proceed further based on the directions given by the court.
He said that among the institutions, S.U.T. Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram was awaiting recognition from the Medical Council of India.
Test dose
Fazal Gafoor, president of the association, said the Supreme Court directive would be a test dose to ascertain if there were enough number of candidates on the rank list who had the wherewithal to pay the fee and deposit. The association would not reach an agreement with the government from next year, if all the seats were filled, proving the managements' long-standing argument that the rank list had students belonging to the affluent sections.
Noting, however, that the managements would not get enough students from the rank list, Dr. Gafoor said those getting admission should produce a bank guarantee (equalling the total fee for the remaining four years).
Asked about the fate of students who had got admission based on the entrance test conducted by the managements for filling the management quota, Dr. Gafoor said they would be eligible for admission if their names figured on the commissioner's rank list. The managements needed to refund the money to other candidates.
