The Njarakkal police formally recorded the arrest of four persons, including the husband of the woman who was subjected to sexual abuse at an apartment in the city.

The 27-year-old woman and mother of three children was taken to the apartment by her husband.

The family was staying at Vypeen on rent and was in poor financial condition. The husband, who is an autorickshaw driver in the city, resorted to this step for financial gain, said the police.

The woman was taken to an apartment near Durbar Hall grounds in the city on June 30, from where the second accused Sam Cheriyan, 52, of Adoor, claimed to run a centre for providing house maids.

However, the apartment was mostly used for prostitution, according to the police. She was taken to the apartment the next day also. During these two days, four persons sexually abused her. Two of them, Sanal Kumar, 32 and Lalji, 29, of Alangad, were arrested.
