Man wanted in criminal cases arrested

The shadow wing of the City Police arrested a person wanted in many criminal cases and has been absconding for long.

Swaran, 34, of Kalathilveedu, Vallarpadom, was wanted -in many cases including hawala money transaction, abkari and assault cases- by many police stations in the district and outside. He took bail from the court and went into hiding.

He was arrested by the team led by Mohammed Nizar, sub-inspector, shadows, on the basis of a tip-off received by M.N. Ramesh, assistant commissioner of police, District Special Branch, and was later handed over to Panangad police.

Held for robbery

Town North Police arrested Palani Swami, 44, of Thoovakudimalayil, Annavalai, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, with stolen iron rods in his possession.

He was stopped in suspicious circumstances by the early morning patrol party. On interrogation, he allegedly confessed to stealing from a house at Lissie Hospital Road.
