In a shocking incident of cruelty towards animals, a man threw acid at his neighbour’s pet dog, blinding it in an eye and causing serious burns.

Police said the man used to loiter around compounds of his neighbours at night and break into some homes. The Pomeranian would then bark continuously, alerting neighbours.

Angered over its behaviour, the man threw acid at the sleeping dog early on Monday.

Hearing the animal’s cries, its owners woke up and found it badly burnt.

The 67-year-old man has been arrested, police added.
