A man stabbed his wife to death following domestic squabbles at Chettikulangara near Mavelikara here on Tuesday.
According to the police, Unnikrishnanm Pillai stabbed his wife, Usha (45), around 3 p.m. on Tuesday after he reached her sister’s home, where she was staying for the past two months after the couple had decided to separate. Usha had filed a case before the Mavelikara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, alleging domestic harassment. Though there was a hearing on the case a few days ago, the issue was not settled.
Pillai reached the place where Usha was staying and when she refused to open the door, allegedly tried to barge in. She finally opened the door, only to be stabbed several times. Though Pillai escaped from the spot, he was arrested by the police soon after. Usha, meanwhile, died en route to the hospital.
