The Kochi city police have arrested a 55-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to abduct a child from children’s park. The arrested is Rajappan, a native of Ayyambilly. He was booked under IPC Section 361 (Kidnapping from lawful guardianship) on the basis of a complaint registered by the child’s parents, who are from Wayanad.

According to the police, the parents, on seeing the accused attempting to abduct the child, restrained him with help of passers-by. The preliminary probe revealed that Rajappan had no criminal records, and he was in an inebriated state.
