A 61-year-old man found guilty in three cases of sexually abusing minor girls, including the infamous Paravur sex scandal case, was found dead inside his residence at Pathalam near Eloor late on Monday evening.
Police suspect it as a case of suicide.
His body was found hanging from the ceiling.
V.Beeran of Pallikkara near Pathalam was convicted earlier of buying a minor girl for prostitution and raping her in the Paravur case.
10 years’ jail termAfter finding him guilty, the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court had sentenced him to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
He was out on bail after filing an appeal with the High Court challenging the conviction. According to police sources, Beeran was also undergoing trial in the sensational Mattannur and Varapuzha sex scandals.
In all these cases, he was accused of raping minor girls. Police said his alleged suicide was reported around 8 p.m. An inquest was conducted soon but the autopsy would be conducted on Tuesday morning.
