The Aluva police have arrested a 25-year-old migrant labourer for allegedly biting the ear of a civil police officer while resisting arrest.

The accused has been identified as Masud Rana, a native of West Bengal.

The incident took place late on Saturday when the police, with the help of the Railway Police, apprehended Rana, who was found in an inebriated state and causing nuisance at the Aluva railway station square.

“Rana was being taken to the station in a police jeep and, all of a sudden, he got up from his seat and bit the CPO Jibin’s right ear. The policeman was hurt even before others could intervene and the bite was so strong that a portion of his ear was split,” the police said.
