Man acquitted in murder case found dead

A man who was an accused in a murder case but was acquitted by court, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances at his house in Vengoor near Perumbavoor.

The deceased was identified as Sunil K. (40), a resident of Kombanad. He was found lying dead by his relatives, who went to his house on Wednesday morning.

The police suspect he was murdered and are conducting an investigation revolving around his friends. There were reports that he had a drinking session with his friends where a verbal duel with some of them ensued.

Deep wounds have been found on his face and legs. The incident is suspected to have taken place between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., police said.

The Kuruppampady police prepared an inquest and sent the body for the autopsy.

The deceased was in jail for the past four years in a case involving the murder of a supervisor of a rubber estate near his house in 2012. However, the court acquitted him and he was released from jail in November last.
