Movement of LPG lorries from the Udyamperoor plant of Indian Oil Corporation was back to normal after two days of disruption on account of a shortage of cleaners on these lorries.
Around 130 lorries reported for taking deliveries from the bottling plant on Thursday, sources said. General Secretary of All Kerala LPG Transporters’ Association Binoy Alex V. said that lorry movements had picked up momentum now and that the problem of shortage of hands was being addressed.
Meanwhile, a round of talks on the long-term wages agreement for the lorry drivers and crew transporting LPG cylinders from the Kazhakkoottam, Udayamperoor, Irumpanam, Ambalamugal, Chelari and Kanjikode plants ended in a stalemate on Thursday.
The next round of talks will take place on June 27. According to a trade union representative who attended the meeting in the State capital, the parties have been asked to reach a settlement before the next round of talks. The meeting was convened by Additional Labour Commissioner G.L. Muraleedharan.
A disagreement on payment of arrears to cleaners had resulted in the strike in the third week of May.
