Lookout notice against accused in kidnap case

April 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:21 am IST - KOCHI:

The police on Monday issued a lookout circular against Rabiullah, a Gulf-based businessman from Malappuram and the key accused in the abduction of an undergraduate student at a private college in Kochi.

The circular was issued after the police arrested a five-member gang that kidnapped the youth from his college hostel. Police said investigations had revealed that it was Rabiullah, who had contracted the gang for abducting the youth, son of his former business partner, to settle old scores. The police have registered a case against the businessman under IPC 364.

“The circular is being issued for the purpose of putting airports and border posts on alert.

“We are also monitoring the phone calls of the close aides of the business man, believed to be in Muscat currently’’, the official said.

Meanwhile, officials are also on the lookout for three more persons who were part of the abduction operation. Firazath Hassan, a first year BBA student in Kakkanad, was abducted by a six-member gang from his hostel on March 23.

The abductors later abandoned the youth at an isolated location in Pollachi, Tamil Nadu.
