KOCHI: Kochi Corporation continues to be in the hall of shame of poor performers in the utilisation of the annual Plan fund.

With hardly 25 days left for the current fiscal to end, the corporation spent only 20.11% of the fund allotted to it.

According to rules, local bodies should ensure maximum spending of the fund in the said financial year, failing which the unused money would be deducted from the allocation next fiscal.

In the week ending March 5, the annual spending of the corporation, which was in the last position then, improved slightly, and it stands fourth now.

Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode are on the “trailers” list maintained by the Local Self Government Department.

While Thiruvananthapuram could utilise only 16.54% of its plan fund, Kozhikode used only 17.47%.

Kollam, Kannur, and Thrissur were the toppers, with Kollam leading the list with 28.07% spending.
