Literacy class for migrant workers

December 06, 2012 01:16 pm | Updated 01:16 pm IST - KOCHI

Evening literacy classes will be held for migrant labourers to provide basic education in Hindi and Oriya, said district panchayat president Eldhose Kunnappallil.

Mr. Kunnappally was inaugurating ‘Hum Mitr’ – the migrant labourer meet — organised by district panchayat along with departments of health and labour, and migrant protection project of Rajagiri Outreach.

Evening classes will be held at schools under the district panchayat. These classes would be used to make labourers aware about cleanliness, healthcare, labour laws and rights besides primary education, he said.
