Police seized liquor and suspected narcotic drugs from a private luxury tourist boat that operated from Marine Drive on Sunday night.

The Sub-Inspector of Ernakulam North police station Honey K. Das said the police seized 12 cases of canned beer and 15 bottles of liquor from 60 youths partying on the vessel.

A few packets too were recovered and verification is on to ascertain whether it is narcotic drugs. The vessel’s owner firm allegedly spread word of parties on board online and through Facebook and other social media sites.

The vessel’s owner would be charged with violating licence norms and also under provisions of Abkari Act since he did not have liquor licence. Ernakulam Central Police have registered a case for the incident.

The police had in a similar raid recovered drugs following a recent raid at a party in a star hotel near Kadavanthra.
