Libel case against Kiss of Love organiser

December 16, 2014 09:45 am | Updated 09:45 am IST - KOCHI:

The Ernakulam Central Police on Monday lodged a case against Rahul Pashupalan, key organiser of the ‘Kiss of Love’ protest, based on a complaint lodged by a woman lawyer that he had put defamatory posts against her in the social media. “The arrest followed a complaint by a lawyer that Pashupalan had raised fake charges against her through posts in his Facebook account. However, Rahul told us he had been cheated by her in connection with a film-making project’’, police said. When contacted, Rahul maintained that he stood by what he had written about the complainant in social media.

“The posts were put seven months ago after I was cheated by the complainant and her partner. They had approached me for making a film under their production house ‘Mangal movie productions’. But we soon came to know that the production house existed only on paper and hence I backed out of the project. I have all the evidence to prove this, which will be produced in the court’’, he said.
